Digital Lightbox replaces the conventional light box used to observe analog x-ray images. Connected to the hospital PACS, the new digital platform can be installed both in meeting rooms and in operating rooms, where clinicians can then access, manipulate, and utilize data for surgery planning. By displaying the human body in 3D, Digital Lightbox helps clinicians to more clearly demonstrate to patients what effects a disease can have and which procedures may be necessary. Digital Lightbox enables clinicians to select the most valuable images from large amounts of existing medical data. Ergonomic touchscreen technology with zoom functionality makes working with data easy and effective. Clinicians can intuitively navigate within pictures and between settings. Image scrolling can be performed with one finger; zooming in and out of images with two. Images from different sources can also be fused easily. The higher-end MZW series includes the 46-inch LCD-46MZW200 (¥400,000; $3,643) and 40-inch LCD-40MZW200 (¥300,000; $2,732), both of which pack a 1080p 10-bit Diamond panel, 120Hz technology and an October 21st release date. For those with tighter spaces (and smaller budgets), the MX / MXW series spans from 19- (¥100,000; $910) to 42-inches (¥280,000; $2,550), with the most expensive sets offering a Full HD display and the lesser ones topping out at 1,366 x 768. In the latest sign of trouble for Nvidia, Dell has said it will extend its limited warranty by a year on some of its laptops that may be using flawed versions of Nvidia’s graphics chips.
There’s just one problem: It is not clear which of Nvidia’s chips are flawed. Despite users’ angry postings on message boards, Nvidia is staying firm on its decision not to recall the products or reveal which of its chipsets may be troubled.
In July, Nvidia said "weak die/packaging material set in certain versions" of its earlier generation GPU and MCP products used in notebook systems are "failing at higher than normal" rates.
In an interview with the Wall Street Journal, Nvidia CEO Jen-Hsun Huang says the decision not to recall the products is not his alone to make. The PC makers have a say too, he pointed out, since a graphics chip recall would also force a recall of the computers containing that chip.
Nvidia has said that it has aside $150 million to $200 million to cover anticipated warranty, repair, return, replacement and other costs and expenses related to the issue.

The new Archos 5 and Archos 7 “generation 6″ players offer capacities as high as 320GB, well-res’d screens and just about every codec we’d ever need — plus available plug-ins to cover the rest. But that’s not even the exciting part. The Archos 5g adds in that 3.5 HSDPA data we were hearing about, providing true on-the-go surfing, and all three players sport WiFi as well. Sizes start off at 30GB for the Archos 5g, which runs a 800 x 480 4.8-inch touchscreen. The Archos 5 bumps that up to 60-250GB, while the Archos 7 does up 160GB and 320GB, with a 7-inch touchscreen that sadly matches the 5 series’ resolution exactly. All three players can record VGA video through an optional DVR Station dock or the DVR snap-on accessory, and Archos will have plenty of other accessories in the offing as well. As for player design, Archos has made considerable strides in thinness, with the Archos 7 at 0.63-inches thick, and the Archos 5 as slim as 0.5-inches, depending on drive size, but we’re not crazy about the new look — though we’re sure opinions will vary. No word on price or availability just yet, but stay tuned.
