Tesla Roadster Gets Street Legal Status, Crushed into a Pulp [Saftey]

The Tesla Roadster just had an appointment with the crash test dummies and a solid concrete wall. Good news—it got smashed up beyond recognition and is now street legal. The road to legality involved front and rear crash testing; windshield and rear view mirror visibility tests, as well as standard fittings compliance on vehicle parts. The automobile annihilation can be viewed in the gallery below.galleryPost(’tesfudgi’, 3, ”);

This sort of destruction should not make us feel good, but the pictures are awesome and we can constantly hear Edward Norton’s cold, monotone voice saying, “I felt like destroying something beautiful,” as a slim justification. We should really speak to someone about Edward Norton’s psychotic comments repeating themselves autonomously in our insane membrane regions. [Tesla via Valleywag]

Book lover’s cave

Nowadays the significance of book reading slightly decreased because there is a great amount of different sources of information. Nevertheless a lot of people all over the world still like reading books. Due to the fact that book reading is quite a simple process it seems that nothing new can be invented in this domain. However, it is not exactly so.

Japanese designer Sakura Adachi suggested combining of bookcase and reading space. His invention represents quite a comfortable place for reading that is located right inside of the bookcase. This place is designed in the form of a chair that is made of a kind of soft material in order to ensure comfort. The fact that this gadget is integrated into the bookcase and, as a consequence, does not occupy any space at all that can be considered as a significant advantage. Moreover, it looks great and probably will not spoil your interior.

Thus, it seems that both adults and children will consider reading in this “cave” as an absorbing pastime. Yet, taking into consideration that a lot of people have computers and laptops it is hard to say something about the demand for this gadget. So, it is quite probable that some of them, having the opportunity to read ebooks, will find no sense to buy this useless, according to their opinion, “cave”.

too cheap to buy a ps3 dualshock controller?

This strange appendage snaps on to the bottom of your standard PlayStation 3 SIXAXIS joystick, turning it into a poor-man’s DualShock controller.

PEGA’s oddly-named “Vibrating Bag” adds rumble capability to your stock PS3 controller. Now they don’t specify if the vibration actually works when the game generates its feedback signal, or if the thing just continuously rumbles. But couldn’t your tired hands use a relaxing massage anyway?

In addition to adding some unwelcome bulk to the controller, the remote receiver that plugs into the console’s USB port has a huge antenna sticking out of it, messing with your PS3’s sleek good looks.

If the contraption wasn’t off-kilter enough, it also has a built-in FM radio - ’cause there’s not thing I like to do more while playing a round of Uncharted than cranking up the Boomer and the Nudge morning show.

So if you really, really can’t bear to spend the bucks on a proper PS3 DualShock Controller, head on over to DealExtreme and take your chances.

Universal Remote’s KP-900 RF keypad / remote makes pit stop in FCC

Posted Jan 26th 2008 3:24PM by Darren Murph
Filed under: Home Entertainment
So do you go out and throw down on a fully-featured RF remote to control your home automation gizmos, or do you get one of those snazzy wall-mounted keypads installed to handle the same duties? Frankly, we’d recommend option C, which would involve picking up a device that operates as both depending on your mood. Universal Remote Control’s KP-900 is one such unit, which easily snaps into and out of a wall mount for use in both of the aforementioned scenarios. Furthermore, there’s even a built-in LCD which showcases relevant activities depending on what main selection you make first. As with everything else spotted in the FCC, you’ll have to wait a tick longer before finding out a price or release date, but it looks like this bugger may actually be worth holding out for.

Retro Woodgrain Phone Invokes Synthesizers of Old [Concepts]

The idea behind this phone concept is that it brings ideas together from past and present with its wood styling and smartphone functionality. The designer says the wood and rock casing is supposed bring together nature and technology, but it just looks like a piece of 70s tech to me (see the bluetooth headset with analog knobs). The Open Television Network and RSS feeds: One neat trick

The Open Television Network, which was born this week, is a sneaky little behind-the-scenes platform that lets small media publishers sell content that’s distributed through RSS. It represents an entirely fresh approach to creating an unmediated online video marketplace between content owners/creators and consumers. Big publishers will continue to sell content through major stores like iTunes, but OTN allows publishers to distribute content that, if fairly priced, might make a few bucks.

It works via a technology the company previously built, called KlickTab. Users first set up an account, and then whenever they want to buy content from an OTN publisher, that account is debited when the item is downloaded. OTN lets the user subscribe to an RSS feed with audio or video content, permitting the viewing of headlines of new articles in media players such as iTunes or the Zune player.

Publishers are given instructions to publish their content to the OTN servers so the technology can track downloads and credit their account. The site is self-service, and there are no content gatekeepers. Pornographic content is removed. Downloaded files are not secure as once they hit a user’s machine, they can be copied.

According to OTN CEO, Philip Hodgetts:

“I think it’s really egregious that people would not be willing to pay a few pennies a minute for content.” Television content monetizes at roughly a penny a minute per viewer, taking advertising and cable subscription revenues into account.”

OTN’s fee is 15 percent for the money it collects. The service starts out new users with a $5.00 credit.

ICUE: The perfect way to read anything

You can now receive hundreds of books via ICUE on your cell phone that are priced anywhere from 50-cents to $9.00! And you don’t have to worry about buying a new bookcase to store them either! Your cell phone will take on the job so you can read them whenever and wherever your little literary heart desires. You can also read them at any pace that makes you feel comfortable, whether that be per word or per phrase. The text appears automatically at a size and speed that you determine, which means no more endless scrolling down the page or squinting at small text.

ICUE is a mobile phone-based service that allows you to download, read and store up to 400 books on your phone. If this isn’t enough reading material for you, you not only better get a life, but while you are doing that, you can also receive newspapers, email and blogs.

All that is required is that you sign up with Bango for payment, and then you are registered and can download the application 64888 to your cell phone. In return, you will be granted access to a WAP-based bookstore, which is the mobile equivalent of a web-based bookstore. From there, it is possible to purchase entire books or, for some titles, extracts and first chapters, which can be read before deciding to purchase the whole text. Prices vary, but the typical cost is under £5 (about $9 US dollars). You can select all your favorites form many different categories including sci-fi, western, or even the hottest best sellers. Your phone company then places the charges on your monthly bill.

MIT and NBC News have joined forces in developing ICUE to support teaching and learning in the following subjects: U.S. History, Government and Politics, English Language and Composition. ICUE offers students and teachers access to NBC News’ coverage of important events and topics as well.

So what are YOU waiting for? Get on the ICUE bandwagon today (or at least after the next news broadcast).

A wooden MP3 player

Almost everybody likes listening to music. At present the variety of MP3 players is so huge that everybody can find exactly what he/she wants. Nevertheless, producers continue to design new devices in order to offer even bigger amount of MP3 players and, consequently, help consumers to choose the ones that perfectly suit their taste.

Gresso company also decided to design something special. Its gadget represents a stylish MP3 player that is made of ebony and gold. According to the information given on Gresso company’s site this ebony is 200 years old. Yet, it may be just a “small” exaggeration. But the most important fact is that the price of this device is 6000 USD. The characteristics of this gadget are as simple as possible: equalizer, FM-radio, 1GB of memory and that’s it. Thus, the only distinctive feature is its unique excellent design.

Despite the fact that this player looks really great, I don’t think that many people will intend to buy it at such a high price. However, some like buying exclusive things in order to emphasize their prosperity and individuality. Most likely this gadget was designed just for that sort of people.
